Living Through a Renovation: How Smart Planning Keeps Your Household Running

Share

Most families stay at home during a bathroom renovation. If it’s your only bathroom, we provide a hot port-a-shower at no extra cost.

One of the first questions we get isn’t about tiles or taps, it’s “where do we shower while this is happening?” It’s a fair concern, especially if you’ve only got one bathroom, and it’s one of the biggest reasons people put off a renovation they actually want.

Why does this catch people off guard?

A bathroom renovation isn’t like painting a room you can just close the door on. Plumbing, waterproofing and tiling all need dry, uninterrupted time, and a family living in the house during that stretch can find daily routines genuinely disrupted, especially the shower.

What can actually be done about it?

Good planning solves most of this before it becomes a problem. Where possible, we sequence the job so key facilities stay usable for as long as we can manage it. And where a bathroom genuinely has to come offline completely, we have our own customised port-a-shower unit. A fully private, purpose-built shower with real hot and cold running water. It plugs straight into your existing water supply and drainage and can be positioned wherever suits your property, including inside your garage, while your bathroom is rebuilt. If you need it, it’s included within the cost of your project, so there’s no surprise line item for something that should simply be part of doing the job properly. See how our port-a-shower works.

What should you ask before you start?

Ask your renovator directly how they plan to sequence the work around your household, not just the trades schedule. A renovation that respects the fact people are still living in the house, kids getting ready for school, someone showering before an early shift, is a different experience to one that treats your home like an empty job site.

Our approach

At Bathroom Transformations, this is baked into how Justin plans every job from day one, because a renovation should improve your life, not derail it for six weeks. If a bathroom-free stretch is genuinely unavoidable, we’ll talk through the options with you honestly, including temporary shower solutions, well before the first wall comes down.
